Una Larew

Waynetown – Una L. Schenck Larew, 99 a life long Waynetown resident, died, 2:37 p.m. Sunday June, 17, 2012 in Bickford Senior Living, Crawfordsville. She had resided there since 2007. She was born October 9, 1912 the daughter of the late Forrest W. and Opal Berry Schenck in Montgomery County. She was a 1930 graduate of Waynetown High School and married Garrett Edward Larew in Christian Union Church, August 26, 1938, he preceded her in death, April 1979.

Prior to her marriage Una was employed by the former Crawfordsville Casket Company. She was a homemaker, farmwife and mother. She was a member of Christian Union Church and for 70 years served as church pianist. Until her health failed she continued playing piano at Bickford. She had also been a member of Wesley Home Ec. Club. Una was a very kind, non-judgmental compassionate, faithful woman. She lived her faith, which was reflected to all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include, daughters: Lois L. (Mel) Vance of Waynetown, IN and Sharon (Phil) Comingore of Madras, Oregon. A son: Edward Eugene Larew of Kingston, GA. Eleven grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Rosalie McMurry in 1983 and an infant grandson.

A celebration of Una’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with Pastor Dorman Winger and family members officiating, burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be, Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.
