Obituary

Wingate – Agnes Lucille Friend Dazey age 89, formerly of Wingate, died in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. She had been in failing health the past few years and had been residing with her daughter in Crawfordsville. Agnes was born in Crawfordsville, August 24, 1921 the daughter of Ellis C. and Etta Hester Friend. On May 3, 1941 she was married to Vergil Dazey and they farmed in the Wingate community, he preceded her in death in April 2004.

She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1940, was a homemaker and helped her husband with the farm. Agnes was a member of the New Hope Chapel, the Hew Hope Afternoon Club and a 50 year member of the Wingate Bunco Club.

Surviving are: a daughter, Sandra Kay (husband Robert) Ratcliff of Crawfordsville and a son;, Gerald (wife Janice) Dazey of Greencastle. Eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Jane Friend and Jean Chadwick both of Crawfordsville, Patricia Bane and Mary Jo Dazey both of Wingate. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding her in death were her husband, a sister Mildred Fulwider, three brothers: Lowell Friend, Dale Friend and Cale Friend.

The family will receive guests from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services to be held at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 with Pastors Duane Mycroft and Al White officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. Memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope Chapel in Wingate.
