Waynetown- Ancil P. Ballard, age 93, of rural Waynetown, died 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Ben Hur Health & Rehab, Crawfordsville. He was born in Russsellville on September 16, 1920 son of the late Claude & Tilla Clodfelder Ballard. He married Geraldine J. Wilson in the Yountsville Church, February 11, 1949 and she survives.
Ancil graduated from Crawfordsville High School and began farming at age 14. He was a grain and livestock farmer in the Waynetown community for 80 years. Ancil had been an active member of the Waynetown Christian Church for 70 plus years. He served as a Deacon, member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class and his talent as a woodworker is reflected in the many projects he completed for the church. Ancil loved and served the Lord. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and made many projects from oak wood. Ancil's quick wit, sense of humor and jokes will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren.
Surviving along with his wife Geraldine are: two sons, Rex (Linda) Ballard and Roy Ballard both of rural Waynetown. Three granddaughters: Elizabeth Ballard, Erica (Jonathan) Winn and Emily (Clayton) Horn. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Frances Ballard and Bertrell Murdock and brother Virgil Ballard.
His family will greet guest, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Waynetown Christian Church. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Waynetown Christian Church with Pastors, Chris Lawler and Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may best be directed to Waynetown Christian Church. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family.
