Obituary

Crawfordsville – Barbara Jeanne Irby Hazlett Weber, age 87 of Crawfordsville, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital of Crawfordsville. She had been in failing health the past several years. She was born in Marion, Indiana, June 30, 1929 to the late George L. and Arlena Swanson Irby. She first married Lawrence Hazlett in Kokomo, June 26, 1949, he preceded her in death August 19, 1997. On January 29, 2000 she married G. Leon Weber in Russellville and he preceded her in death December 16, 2014.

Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Indiana University Kokomo. She was formerly employed in the offices at Continental Steel Corp. in Kokomo. Following her first marriage, in 1949 they move to the Waveland community and raised their family. Barbara was a very busy and meticulous woman. Raising her family, helping with the books and keeping her home spotless kept her busy. She also gave piano lessons from her home. Her family often lovingly joked about how clean and organized her home was. She was a long time member of the Russellville Community Church, where she had served as an organist and pianist as well as a member of the Christian Women's Organization. She was a 50 year plus, member of The Order of Eastern Star, Waveland Chapter 539, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She also was a 50 year member of Waveland Women's Club.

Surviving are: a daughter, Kathleen (William 'Rusty') Carter of Crawfordsville and a son, Michael (Nicole) Hazlett of Waveland. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Irby.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Russellville Community Church following with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Small officiating. Burial will follow in Portland Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Russellville Community Church.
