Bernice Jane Knoblett Boyd, age 82 of rural Wingate, passed away in her daughter's home following a lengthy illness at 9:59 AM, Sunday, June 22, 2025.  She was born in Crawford County Illinois June 19, 1943 daughter of the late Charles and Helen White Knoblett.  She married Rev. Robert Boyd December 31, 1959 in Robinson, Illinois and he preceded her in death October 25, 2014.

Bernice attended Robinson, IL schools and became a Pastor's wife and embraced serving with him for 54 years.  She was a talented musician playing string instruments, piano, organ, accordion and singing.  She traveled the Midwest with her husband and family evangelizing with their music ministry.  Her husband pastored churches in Robinson, Oblong, Newton and Lacon, IL, Wingate, Mellott and Warren IN.  Her favorite places they served were in North Carolina at Winston-Salem, Whitsett, Seagrove, and Greensboro before retiring to Thomasville.

She had also served as a volunteer EMT in her younger years. Bernice loved her family, cooking and playing games and cards. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked for a bridal shop doing repairs, alterations and making wedding dresses. She was a Duke and Chicago Bears fan.

Surviving are: a daughter Susan Jane (Dennis) Brady and son, Matthew H. Boyd both of rural Wingate. Grandchildren; Miranda and Brandon Boyd, Rachel Boyd, Charles Boyd & Joshua Solomon, Patrick Brady, Rebecca Brown, Jessica & Michael Tharp, Corwin & Carson Boyd and Isabella Boyd.  Twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A sister, Betty (Richard) Boyd of Oblong, IL, daughter-in-law Mary Beth Nine Boyd of West Lafayette. Two brothers-in-law; Larry Boyd and Jerry Boyd both of Robinson, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sons; John, Mike, Timothy and Mark, daughter-in-law Lauralee Nine Boyd and granddaughter Brittany.

Visitation hours are 4:00 – 6:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2025 at Pleasant Hill UCC, Wingate, services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Alan Goff officiating.  Inurnment with graveside services will be announce at a later date in Kirk Cemetery, Robinson, IL.  Memorial contributions are preferred to the Pleasant Hill Church.  Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family, visit us at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to sign the guest book or share a condolence.
