Betty Lois Jones Cope, age 89, of Crawfordsville, died at 3:20 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 in Franciscan Alliance Hospital in Crawfordsville. She was born near Waynetown, June 27, 1927, daughter of the late Paul and June Chesterson Jones. She married Donald Cope in Wingate, February 15, 1947 and he survives.

She attended school in Waynetown and graduated from Newtown High School. She and Don farmed near Elmdale until 1993, when they moved to Crawfordsville. She worked at RR Donnelly for 10 years. She had belonged to the Wingate Home Economics Club and the Wingate American Legion Auxiliary, both for over 50 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, flowers and gardening. She was a very kind and caring person.

Surviving with her husband Don: two daughters; Kay Birchfield and Rhonda (John) Bowman both of Crawfordsville, two sons; Darrell (Vicki) Cope of Crawfordsville and Dennis (Cathy) Cope of Kingston, TN. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson.

Visitation hours are 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 with funeral services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating all at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
