Terre Haute – Bill Lee 'BJ' Jackson, age 70, passed away, January 23, 2018 in his home. He was born in Wyandotte , MI on July 1, 1947 son of the late William McKinley and Virginia Lee Dapine Jackson. He was formerly married to Diana Sanders Jackson.
BJ was a 1965 graduate of Garfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served "13 months and one day in Viet Nam". He was asked how he kept track of 13 months and one day while fighting in the jungles of Viet Nam. BJ simply replied, "if you were there, you'd know!" He was proud of his military service. For over 40 years he operated B.J. Jackson Concrete, Inc. His son Shane, grew up in the business and worked along with B.J for over 20 years.
He was a Life Member of VFW Post #972 and Riley American Legion Post #328. He enjoyed golf and being BJ! He was a 'diamond in the rough'!
Surviving are his children: a son; Shane (Rachel) Jackson of Terre Haute and a daughter; Amberlee (Kirk) Hooker of Demotte, IN. A brother: Michael (Debi) Aird of Terre Haute and four grandchildren: Harper, Jackson, Chaney and Hayeslee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service and inurnment will be held. A party/gathering of BJ's family and friends to celebrate his life will be held, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Riley American Legion (5600 South Lama St. Terre Haute).
