Funeral Service
Family & Friends Funeral Home
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Brenda McClure, 85, passed away peacefully in West Lafayette, Indiana, on March 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and a family who adored her.
Born on December 6, 1940, to Vernon and Marguerite Jones, Brenda grew up in Thawville, Illinois. She often spoke fondly of her childhood, deeply cherishing the close-knit, small-town experience that shaped her kind and grounded nature.Brenda and Michael (“Mick”) McClure were married in 1964. Throughout their decades together, they shared many meaningful years and a mutual love for travel, including a trip to the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul that remained a lifetime highlight. Mick preceded her in death in 2024.
Brenda and Mick moved frequently for Mick’s career as a sports executive, living in Illinois, Texas, Tennessee, and Indiana. Brenda especially loved their time in Wheaton, Illinois. There, she found deep fellowship through volunteering and local church life, and she delighted in frequent trips into Chicago to explore museums and attend Bulls and White Sox games.
Brenda’s home was a reflection of the things she cherished most. Over the years, she was a devoted owner of four much-loved Scottish and West Highland Terriers: McDuff, Katy, MacTavish, and Maggie. This affection for her dogs led to a collection of countless Scottie and Westie figurines, nearly all of which were thoughtfully gifted to her by friends and family over the years.
A woman of subtle wit and immense generosity, Brenda was well known in her neighborhood for her homemade chocolate chip cookies. Her house was a revolving door for local children who knew that cookies and kind words were always waiting in her kitchen.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Michael (Amy) McClure and Matthew (Pam) McClure. She was the proud grandmother of James (Ashley) McClure, Johnathan McClure, and Isla McClure, and the delighted great-grandmother of Margaret and Adelaide. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Marilyn (Donald) Ikins, and a dear cousin, Louise (Robert) Ristow.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Family & Friends Funeral Home in Wingate, Indiana. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Church in West Lafayette, Newtown Community Church, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
