Obituary

Charla Anne Rogers Hutchinson, age 73 of Veedersburg, passed away at 2:20 PM Thursday, January 22, 2026 in IU Arnett Hospital, Lafayette after suffering a stroke on Monday. She was born in Lafayette, April 9, 1952 daughter of the late Max E. and Martha A. McBee Rogers. She married Donald L. Hutchinson in Indianapolis June 13, 1971 and he preceded her in death May 5, 2017. They had been married 46 years.

Charla grew up in the Speedway area of Indianapolis and graduated from Northwest High School with the class of 1970. She and Donald moved to Newtown, IN in 1976 and later moved to Veedersburg, where she currently resided. She formerly was a teacher with the Covington Head Start Program for many years. She worked as a health care provider for Zana Hinton and other residents at Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Attica until it closed.

Charla enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets and camping. She and Donald attended the Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Independence where they started a Young Adult Bible Study Class, they loved serving the Lord. If you knew Charla, you knew she had a heart of gold, loved everyone and everyone loved her. She always had a great smile and kind word for everyone.

She is survived by two sons: Jeff (Selena) Hutchinson of rural Monon and Jacob Hutchinson of Veedersburg, a step-daughter Kathy Pitts (Steve) of Indianapolis, Six grandchildren: Brennan (Tori), Collen, Peyton (Lexi), Verite (Noah), Alexander, Aleesha (Justin). Great-grandchildren: Ayla, Amelia, Allyson and Petra. Three sisters : Nini (Bill) Truscott of Bettendorf, IA, Cindy (Tony) Underhill of Colorado Springs, CO and Lechia Rogers of Portland, OR and a brother Marc (Jevita) Rogers of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation hours are 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2026 with funeral services following at 1:00 PM at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with Brother Joel Whitehead officiating.
