IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles 'Charlie/Kenny'
K Brown
July 30, 1949 – December 23, 2018
Charles K. 'Charlie/Kenny' Brown of rural New Richmond, passed from this earth on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 11:05 AM after a fierce battle with esophogeal and bone cancer. Charlie was born on July 30, 1949, the first of nine children born to Charles L. and Connie L. (Russell) Brown in Frankfort, Indiana. His early life was spent in Frankfort before his family moved to Brookston.
In January of 1966, at an ice skating party on Lake Freeman, he was showing off his skating skills when he was introduced to a lovely young lady who would one day become his best girl. They group dated that winter but then lost touch. His favorite story was telling of how one day in late spring that year, he was cruising Brookston, when he saw a familiar face, stopped her and asked what she was doing. Her reply was "looking for you" and that was the start of a long and wonderful relationship.
On 17 June 1969 in Monticello, Teresa (Terri) J. Wood and Charlie eloped. The following year on the same date, they renewed their vows saying they wanted to make sure the marriage "took". It did, for nearly 50 years. To this union were born 2 sons, Aaron K. (Tina) Brown of Brookston, and their daughter; Mariah Brown Kief, Chris K. (Julie) Brown of Stockwell; and their children; Lauren, Claire, and Kane Brown. Plus one great grandson, Waylon Kief.
Charlie was a service manager/director for several car dealerships in Lafayette, where he was known for his diagnostic abilities. He retired a couple of times from other businesses, before finishing his working career helping his son, Chris, with a motorcycle-small engine business in Stockwell.
Surviving along with his wife, Terri, sons, Aaron and Chris and their spouses, grandchildren Mariah, Lauren, Claire, and Kane and Great grandson, Waylon, are his siblings:
W.Bruce and wife June, Richard E. and wife Elsa, Lucky L. and wife Judy, Frederick, Ronald E. and wife Debra, David K. and wife Karen, Brian L. and wife Janet and baby sister, Della S. Cohee, husband Larry along with many nieces and nephews. There are extra special people who called him dad and spent their formulative years growing up in Charlie's home that became his "chosen" kids. He loved each and every one of them, for they completed his life. Charlie enjoyed dancing, story telling, horses, guns, motorcycles and anything that went fast!
