Mrs. Charlotte Marie 'Leis' Rater, 66, of Monon, Indiana, departed this world on January 19, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24, 1957, in Monticello, Indiana, to the late Otto and Helen Leis. Charlotte was a 1975 graduate of North White High School, where she initiated her journey towards a fulfilled life.

Throughout her professional years, Charlotte dedicated herself to her work with unwavering commitment. She served faithfully at Ward Packing and later Monon Meats, leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues. Following her retirement, Charlotte chose to spend her remaining time at home, reveling in the joy and love of her adored grandchildren.

Charlotte will be forever remembered as a loving wife to her devoted husband of 49 years, Victor Rater. She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her sons: William (Kim) Rater of Reynolds, IN, Steven (Heather) Rater of Monon, IN, and daughter Toni (Frank) Conley of Medaryville, IN. In addition, Charlotte is mourned by her brothers: Robert (Sandy) Scott of Buffalo, IN, Otto "Dick"(Pat) Leis Jr. of Buffalo, IN, William (Regina) Leis of Monticello, IN, sister-in-laws Shelly Steinkamp of Monon, IN, and Janet Scott of Monticello, IN. Her memory also lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Keicha, Frankie, Kaylia, Ashlynne, Breann, Haley, Wyatt, Chelsea, Mariah, Gabriel, and Daniel, as well as her great-grandchildren: Paizlee, Amelia, Isaac, Aaliyah, and Penelope. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Charlotte now joins her adored parents, Otto and Helen Leis, and her brothers Donald Scott and Orlo Scott in eternal rest. As well as by her father and mother-in-law, Bill and Kay Rater, brother-in-law Tony Rater, and sister-in-law Ruth Scott.

A traditional celebration of Charlotte's life will take place at the First Christian Church of Francesville, with visitation being graciously held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM  Saturday, January 27, 2024 allowing friends and family to gather, remember, and share their condolences. Following the visitation, a solemn and heartfelt memorial service will commence at 2:00 PM, officiated by the deeply caring Pastor James Ketchen. The compassionate professionals at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate will assist the family during these difficult times.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the First Christian Church of Francesville or Safe-T Home Care. Your generous support will uphold Charlotte's values and continue the invaluable work of these organizations.
