Wingate – Christine M. 'Teenie' Funk Bane, 81, died unexpectedly in her home, 8:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2014. She was born in Fountain County, August 29, 1933 daughter of the late George and Clara Mounts Funk. She was married to Robert Bane on December 30, 1951 and he preceded her in death.
Teeenie was a graduate of Wingate High School and life-time resident of the area. Her family was the focus of her life. She was first and foremost a 'Homemaker Deluxe'. She 'mothered and smothered' those she loved and cared about. She was a babysitter and caregiver to all her grandchildren. She is also thought to be the original 'tailgater, being 'Ma Baner' to the Coal Creek and North Montgomery cross country and track teams. Her kind loving soul endeared her to all who had the pleasure to know her.
Surviving are: a son, Alan (Peggy) Bane of Crawfordsville and daughter, LeeAnn 'Sis' Bane-Smith (husband David) of Waynetown. Four grandchildren survive: Jared (Morgan) Smith, Sami (Jason) Paff, Madison Smith, Colbi Bane and great-granddaughter Ava Smith. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Catherine Gross and Carolyn Marquess.
Visitation will be noon – 2:00 pm Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Family and Friends Funeral of Wingate, her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Her family prefers memorial contributions be directed to either the Montgomery Count Animal Welfare League or Montgomery County Educational Foundation.
