Crawfordsville – Connie I. England Hughes, age 73, of Crawfordsville, passed away in her home Tuesday, June 9, 2020 following a lengthy illness.  Connie was born in Rensselaer, IN April 1, 1947 to the late Chester and Mary Ellen Bowman England.  She married Jerry J. Hughes in Young's Chapel Christian Church February 24, 2008 and he survives.

Connie was a 1965 graduate of Wolcott High School.  She has resided in Crawfordsville since her marriage to Jerry.  She had been an active member of the Young's Chapel Christian Church and the Ladies Aide.

She had a great love for children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Until her health failed, she seldom missed any of their activities.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking.  Connie had a loving heart, was a kind person with a great smile.  She always had time for others.  Even as her health failed, she never waivered in her faith and never complained.

Surviving along with her husband Jerry are: a son; Jason (Tammy) Smith of Crawfordsville, two daughters; Janel (Brock) Suhr of Monticello and Jennifer Smith (Virgil Beck) of Indianapolis; a son Jerame (Shelly) Smith of Lafayette.  16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother-in-law Chuck Smith of Macy.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; June Sheets and Becky Smith and brother-in-law Fred Sheets.

Visitation hours are, 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 4:00 PM with Pastor Gary Edwards officiating, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Young's Chapel Christian Church.  Visit us online at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to sign the guest book or leave a condolence.
