Waynetown – Daniel L. Elkins, age 59, died unexpectedly in the emergency room of Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health Hospital, Crawfordsville, 10:13 p.m. Saturday. He was born December 31, 1954 in Ponca City, OK son the late Robert Elkins and Doris Lawson Elkins who survives. He married Tammy Mason in Attica on November 9, 1985 and she survives.

Dan attended school in Attica and had resided in the Newtown, Hillsboro area for 12 years before moving to Waynetown 8 years ago. The past five years he drove a semi for Joe Bone Trucking and had previously been employed by Wabash National.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, family camping, motorcycles and fishing on the Wabash River.

Survivors include; his mother, Doris Elkins of Universal, wife, Tammy of Waynetown, two daughters; Billie (Travis) Byers of Covington, Stephanie Elkins (companion Brett Risner) of Wingate. Three sons; Eric Turpin (companion Brittney Combs) Veedersburg, Josh (Jessica) Elkins of Mellott and Robert 'Bob' Elkins of Waynetown. Two sisters; Rosemary (Paul) Howard of Attica and Nancy Elkins of Clinton, a brother Rodney Elkins of Universal, 12 Grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his father; son, Michael; brother Carl, his best friend and cousin 'Skeeter'.

Dan's family will greet guests, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m at the funeral home with Pastor Mike McCollum officiating.
