Buckner
October 6, 1942 – February 6, 2021
David D. Buckner age 78 of rural Battle Ground, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 6, 2021 following a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family as he took his last breath. He was born in Chicago, IL to the late Rex and Ann Pionkowski Buckner. He married Ruth Eileen Beers in the West Point United Methodist Church August 15, 1965 and they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage, Ruth survives.
David was a graduate of Morton High School in Hammond, IN and Ball State University with both a BA and MA in Business Administration. He was an entrepreneur and was employed by Area IV Council on Aging and also Habitat for Humanity. He was an active member of West Point United Methodist Church involved in many capacities. He enjoyed spending time with his church family.
Surviving to cherish his memory are: his wife Ruth and their daughter Kristine (Tim) Burke of Shadeland and grandsons; Logan & Nolan, granddaughters Joslyn and Kirsten. A sister, Sandra (Daniel) Cirullo of Hammond. Nephews David (Ginette), Mark (Adrienne) and Joshua (Tara) Smith, and niece Suzy (Tom) Lloyd.
After much heartfelt consideration over health concerns for the family and friends, they have decided to have a private funeral Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the West Point United Methodist Church with Pastor Russ Alley officiating, with interment following in West Point Cemetery. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
