David Spencer Garceau, age 85, of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away at 2:28 AM December 29, 2024, at the Preston Health Center in Hilton Head Island following a period of failing health.  David was born on September 19, 1939, son of the late Harold Spencer and Leila Kathryne Holcroft Garceau. He married Sue Ann Inskeep in the New Richmond United Methodist Church on June 15, 1963. She preceded him in death, May 7, 2017.

David graduated high school in 1957 in Jeffersonville, IN then attended Purdue University where he earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He served in the US Army and Army Reserves at Ft. Hood, TX. Following his Honorable Discharge, he worked in automotive and houseware products industries while also earning his MS in Mechanical Engineering. He was then employed by The Kendall Company for over 30 years as a Senior Project Manager in Walpole, MA and Augusta, GA. He and Sue retired to Hilton Head Island in 2005.

While on Hilton Head Island, David was a member of the United Church of Christ, The Elks, and was Treasurer of the Newcomers Club. He was an avid collector of Lionel trains and enthusiastic member of the Hilton Head Model Train Club. David and Sue enjoyed spending time on the beach.

Surviving David are: a son, Daniel Garceau of Salt Lake City, UT and a daughter, Stacy Garceau Studenick of Gilbert, AZ. Grandsons Matthew Garceau and Sean Garceau, and granddaughters Rebecca Studenick and Natalie Studenick. A brother Stephen Garceau of Peoria, IL and two cousins: Art Garceau of Syracuse, IN and Harry Fisher of Boston, MA.

There will be a gathering of family and friends 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM followed by memorial services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Wilke officiating, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Graveside services will follow with military honors by US Army Honors Team and Crawfordsville American Legion #72 Post Honor Guard.  Please visit at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to sign the guest book or share a memory for the family.
