August 15, 1961 – September 21, 2020
Diana L. Hanthorne, age 59 of rural Williamsport, passed away Monday evening, September 21, 2020 from injuries sustained in a multiple vehicle crash on State Road 28, east of Attica. She was born in Danville, IL August 15, 1961 daughter of Donna Bobbett Farris and the late Phillip Farris. She married Scott Hanthorne in Rossville, IL on October 12, 1985 and he survives.
Diana graduated from Rossville High School (IL), attended Purdue University and graduated from Lakeview College, of Nursing in Danville, as a RN. She worked briefly in Danville in ER. She spent 27 years in Community Hospital/St. Vincent Williamsport as an emergency room nurse and became Utilization Review Manager and finally as a Med Surgical Manager/Medical Staff Coordinator. The past three years she was employed in the pulmonary department for Franciscan Health, Lafayette.
Diana looked forward to the yearly fishing trips to Wisconsin and her trips to Tennessee to visit family. She was supportive of her family, cherished her grandchildren and spoiled them when she could. She loved the holidays, baking for her family, and enjoyed watching cooking shows. She was a former member of the Rossville, IL United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa. On a professional level, she was an incredible nurse and amazing manager. She was well respected by her staff and co-workers. Her calm, peaceful presence brought reassurance to all she came in contact with. She will be sadly and fondly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving along with her husband Scott are: a son, Adam (Kelsey) Hanthorne of Williamsport, her mother, Donna Bobbett Farris of Sevierville TN, a brother, Terry (Judy) Farris of Dandridge, TN. Mother-in-law Betty Hanthorne of Attica, Grandchildren; Truly, Nell and Quinton Hanthorne, many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her father Phillip Farris and father-in-law Robert Hanthorne.
Her family will greet guests, 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, September 28, 2020 at the Williamsport Christian Church. A Nursing Honor Guard Service will precede her memorial funeral service, 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 29 at the church with Pastor Jesse Stoner officiating. The family prefers memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital, with envelopes available at the services. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family.
