IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doan N.
Marlatt
September 1, 1934 – June 18, 2018
Doan Newman Marlatt, age 83, of the Newtown/Wingate communities, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 18, 2018 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was surrounded by his family and wife, Marilyn, holding his hand.
Doan was born on September 1, 1934 in Newtown, Indiana and was the son of the late Encil and Maxine (Cronk) Marlatt. He graduated from Richland Township High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served two years in Korea. Upon his return home, he met and married his bride of 59 years, Marilyn (Bryant). They were married in Newtown, June 14, 1959. Doan was a lifelong cattle and grain farmer.
He enjoyed attending cattle auctions and was especially fond of the Veedersburg horse sale. Visiting coffee shop friends and 'enlightening the boys' with his wit and wisdom and attending his grandchildren's sporting and music events brought him great joy. He was a very proud Grandpa and bragged of them often! He was a member of the Newtown Community Church.
Along with his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by his children: Deena (Kelly) Bailey of Zionsville, Marty (Trina) Marlatt of Attica, Dan (Taly) Marlatt of Granger, Darcy (Preston) Smith of Romney, and sister, Jane Rice of Newtown. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren: Courtney (Ben) Olson, Carly Bailey, Tilly Marlatt, Dusty Marlatt, Emma Marlatt, Ethan Marlatt, Payton Smith, Averi Smith and one great grandson, Beau Olson.
His parents, Encil and Maxine Marlatt, preceded him in death.
