Don A. Smith 82, of the Romney community, passed away 12:30 AM Monday, May 22, 2023 in The Lane House, Crawfordsville.  He was born in Lafayette Home Hospital, July 4, 1937 to the late Albert and Fairy Miller Smith.  He married Juanita Louise Gardner in the Lafayette United Methodist Church April 14, 1978 and she survives.

Don was graduate of Southwestern High School and served six years in the U.S. Army.  He was a lifelong farmer and for many years raised hybrid seed corn for the Dekalb Seed Company.  Don achieved success in having outstanding yields and won several yield awards. He had also been employed by Alcoa as a repairman for 16 years.

Surviving along with his wife Juanita are: two sons; Tony L .Smith and Tracy L. Smith both of Hillsboro.  Two grandchildren; Lynn (Kayli) Smith and Jade (Brett Laney) Zollars.  Two great-grandchildren also survive; Karson Smith and Emerson Zollars.  He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.

Private graveside services will be held in New Richmond Cemetery.
