Wingate – Doris Ann Snouwaert Kennedy, age 78, of Wingate, died 5:05 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis following a lengthy illness. Doris was born December 8, 1933 in Tippecanoe County, daughter of the late Howard and Viola Byers Snouwaert. She was a graduate of Wingate High School in 1951. She was married to the late Benjamin 'Ben' R. Kennedy in New Richmond May 6, 1952. He proceded her in death May 6, 2005.

Doris assisted her husband on the family farm just north of Wingate, was a housewife and had formerly been employed as a teachers aide at Coal Creek Central School. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ in Wingate. Doris was a very easy-going person and endeared herself to all who knew her.

Survivors include: Three daughters, Lou Ann (Robert) Hale of Kokomo, Mary Neel of Crawfordsville and Karen (Phillip) Goode of Crawfordsville. Two sons: Douglas Kennedy (companion Susan Sosbe) of Danville, IN, Thomas (Gladys) Kennedy of Crawfordsville. A sister, Nancy Pinegar of Anderson. Nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, grandson Brent Stombaugh and son-in-law Terry Neel.

Friends may call at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Funeral services, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Family & Friends Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
