Obituary

Veedersburg – Frances L. Bunnell Ziegler age 87, formerly of rural Veedersburg, died at 12:15 A.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in St. Francis Hospital Beech Grove. She had been living with her daughter in Indianapolis since 2003.

Frances was born in rural Montgomery County near Elmdale on April 24, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Wesley and Zetta M. Herron Bunnell. She was a graduate of Wingate High School and was married in her parent's home to Donald E. Ziegler on December 3, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1997.

The Ziegler family farmed and operated the C.W. Dockins farm near Veedersburg for 50 years. Frances had been active in the First Christian Church of Veedersburg where she served as an elder, treasurer and CWF. She also served with Habitat for Humanity, on the board of The Wheatfield Boy's Home and had volunteered at Lane House Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. After moving to Indianapolis she became involved with the Southport Heights Christian Church's card and prayer ministries. She enjoyed reading, sewing and crochet.

Survivors include: a daughter Connie Frances Ziegler of Indianapolis, and two sons: Rodney J. (wife Joy) Ziegler of Beech Grove, IN and Donald 'Jack' (wife Jane) Ziegler of Hillsboro, IN. Sisters; Irene Sablic of Fort Wayne, Aurilla Ann Brewer of Crawfordsville and Judy K. Thomas of Winston-Salem, NC. Grandchildren: Justin Ziegler, Daniel (Katie) Ziegler, Jennie Ziegler, April Ziegler, Benjamin Ziegler. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren: Jenny (Bob) Campbell and Chris Styer slso a great-step-grandson Ethan Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Darlene June Ziegler, sisters Gladys Zachary and Ava Hinds.

The family will receive guests Friday, July 31, 2009 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with her son Rodney Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery near Elmdale. Memorial contributions may best be directed to First Christian Church of Veedersburg, Southport Heights Christian Church, Indianapolis or Fountain County Habitat for Humanity with envelopes available at the funeral home.
