Crawfordsville – Fred Carl Pittman, age 86, formerly of Waynetown, passed away in his home, 4:40 PM, Monday, July 30, 2018 following a lengthy illness.  He was born in rural Fountain County to the late Francis A. and Amanda Ellen Murphy Pittman.  He married Annalee Bolen in Waynetown, June 14, 1952 and she survives.

Fred was a 1950 graduate of Waynetown High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant at the time of his discharge.  He was employed by R. R. Donnelley for 44 years, retiring from 'custom book binding'.  He was a member of Liberty Chapel Church.

Fred was a great family man…always there for his family, his children's  and grandchildren's school activities.  He was the kind of man who always there when they needed him!  He was a skilled mechanic, enjoyed fly-fishing, gardening, woodworking and hunting.  Fred was a great fan of Purdue Basketball and enjoyed Westerns, both on TV and reading.

Surviving along with his wife Annalee, are:  Three daughters; Becki (Tom) Muth of Waynetown, Linda (Steve) Sayler and Janet (Bob) Suiter both of Crawfordsville.  Two sons: Don (Mary) Pittman of Deerfield Beach, FL and Mike Pittman of Crawfordsville.  A sister, Virginia (Larry) Davis of Estero, FL, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Margaret, Ruth and Cornella and brother David Rush.

Visitation hours are 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Friday, August 3, 2018 with funeral services beginning at 3:00 PM with Kyle Proctor officiating at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Interment will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Liberty Chapel Church.  Visit us online at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to leave a condolence or share a memory.
