Sanson
December 30, 1944 – March 23, 2024
George Lee Sanson age 79, of rural Veedersburg, passed away following a period of failing health at 6:59 AM Saturday, March 23, 2024 in Franciscan Health Hospital East, Lafayette. George was born December 30, 1944, 30 minutes after his twin sister Lillian to the late William and Audrey Moore Sanson. He enjoyed the past 40 years of his life with his life companion, Wilma 'Butterfly' Krug on her rural Fountain County farm.
George was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette. He served with the Indiana National Guard and retired after 30 years as a 'pipe fitter' with Eli Lilly & Co. After his career at Lilly's he was employed 10 years at Rea Magnet Wire in Lafayette. George was a member of the Newtown Community Church where he served on the board of Trustees. He was up for any task at the church and worked quietly behind the scenes not seeking praise.
With Wilma in his life, he accepted her children and eventual grandchildren as his own. He cherished special moments with them as they grew. They were the highlight of his life. George was an accomplished bowler, enjoyed motorcycles and traveling the country with Wilma. He was very content living in the countryside and enjoying a country lifestyle. He belonged to American Legion Post #11 in Lafayette and the NRA.
Surviving along with his companion Wilma are her children who he accepted as his own: Karin (Timothy) Loose of Battle Ground, WA, Kevin (Cheri) Krug of rural Wingate and Scott (Kelly) Krug of rural Veedersburg. Grandchildren: Clint Krug, Makayla Loose, Kameran Krug, Karoline Loose and Kody Krug.
