Obituary

Gloria Jone Combs-Smail, 74 of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2026.

Gloria was born on January 30, 1952 to Paul and Gloria Combs. Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family.

Gloria especially loved spending time with her family and treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She greatly enjoyed attending their school and sporting events, proudly cheering them on and celebrating their accomplishments. She loved sitting in the sun reading books, playing on her tablet, traveling, baking for those she loved, and visiting her sister, Jill, in Texas. She also found happiness in spending time with her sister, Liz, tending to flowers together.

She is survived by her daughters, Heather Robertson and SaraBeth Morgan; her grandchildren, Haley (Thomas) Craft, Zachary Robertson, and Madisyn Morgan; her beloved great-grandsons, Cylus and Weston Craft; and her sisters, Paulette (Jill) Combs-Hudson and Elizabeth (Liz) Mitton, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish her memory.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Paul D. and Gloria D. Combs; her brother, Steve Combs; her sister, Peggy Cedars; and her brothers-in-law, Tink Hudson, Larry Cedars, and Bud Mitton.

While her passing was unexpected, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family will forever cherish the time they had with her and find comfort in the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Visitation will be at Family & Friends Funeral Home in Wingate on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike McCollum officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gloria’s great-grandson’s medical fund for X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH).
