Homer Edward Zink, Jr. age 69 of rural Waynetown, passed away unexpectedly in his home, Thursday, July 22, 2021.  Homer was born in Lafayette, January 25, 1952, son of the late Homer Edward Zink Sr. and Phyllis Jean Nichols Zink.  He was formerly married to Jacinta Goodman with whom he had three children.

Homer was a 1970 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.  He proudly served 20 years with the United States Army Reserves, based out of the 209 ^th Quartermaster Company, Lafayette, attaining the rank of First Sergeant.  He served overseas and in Operation Desert Storm.  He retired after 29 years with Alcoa, Lafayette and he was a member of Lafayette American Legion Post 11 and VFW Post 1154.  He moved to the rural Wayentown community in 2005

Homer was an aspiring pilot…he owned a Piper Arrow airplane in Florida and a boat where he spent the winter months.  He loved his family, grandchildren and spending time with them, enjoyed the outdoors and camping.  He was a 'people person' and quick to lend a hand when people needed assistance.

Surviving are: a daughter Reginna Pippenger of Frankfort, two sons; Ryan (Katie) Zink and Kyle (Tricia) Zink both of Lafayette.  Seven grandchildren:  Julian, Ella, Alle Paislee, Jacob, Braden and Addison.  A sister Donna Zink and brother Charles (Jody) Zink both of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother George and sister Judy.

Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with Military honors  provided by American Legion Post Honor Guard beginning at 8:00 PM followed by funeral services.  Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Post 11.  Visit us online to sign the guestbook or leave a condolence at www.familyandfreinds@tds.net
