Obituary

Newtown – Ivan R. Wann age 87 of rural Veedersburg (Newtown-Mellott) died 10:10 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the Waters of Covington, following a lengthy illness. Ivan was born near Chalmers, in White County on May 24, 1924 the son of Daniel B. and Marie Grussing Wann, they preceded him in death. On December 7, 1947 he was married to Jean Fauth in Chalmers and she survives.

He was a graduate of Chalmers High School with the class of 1942. He moved his family to the Fauth farm south of Newtown in 1952 and he farmed in the Newtown- Mellott area until this spring when he became ill. Ivan was a member of the Mellott Community Church formerly United Church of Christ, member of the Illiana Antique Power Assn. For many years, he was employed as a part time Field Inspector for the ASCS committee. Ivan took great pride in farming and always had an outstanding garden. He was an accomplished woodworker and made items for many local people. He also enjoyed hunting, antiques and pipe organs.

Surviving along with his wife are four sons: David A. Wann of Veedersburg, Gary L. (wife Jo) Wann of Newtown, James P. (wife Glenda) Wann of Kokomo and Gregory L. (wife Patti) Wann of Glendale, AZ. Two brothers: Dean Wann of Tecumseh, MI and Robert (wife Shari) Wann of Indianapolis. Four grandchildren: Genoia Beth Wann Segal, Seth Michael Wann, James Daniel Wann and Corrie Jeannette Wann Sarol. Two great-grandchildren: Jadrid and Brendan Segal. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive guests 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Carty officiating, burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
