Jacqueline 'Jackie' Mardell Stewart Craig, age 60, of Lafayette and formerly of West Point, died in IU Health Hospital, Lafayette at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. She had been in failing health the past year. She was born in Lafayette, June 24, 1954 to the late Charles and Neveda Bray Stewart. She was raised by the late Chet and Lois Macy. She was married to Don Allen Craig, May 20, 1978 and they resided in Greenfield, IN until he preceded her in death November 6, 2006. She then moved to West Point and resided with her cousin, Tim Macy and wife Karen.
Mardell, as her friends like to call her was a fun loving, free spirited person who enjoyed cooking, basketball, basket weaving and music. She never met a stranger. Jackie had been employed by Indiana Knitwear for many years and most recently at Bennett's Greenhouse and the Tippecanoe Mall, until her health failed.
She is survived by: a daughter, Belinda (Terry) Potts of Romney, a brother, Edward Stewart of Lafayette, three grandsons, Micah, Matthew and Harley Potts, her companion Shawn Aylsworth. A step-granddaughter Cori Ann (Aaron) Mullendore, three step-great-grandchildren , Kenndall, Jeryd and Benjamin. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother Stephen Stewart.
I keeping with Jackie's wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held in the spring. She will be inurned in Farmer's Institute Cemetery. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family with arrangements.
