New Richmond – James Andrew Geralds age 77 died in his home following a lengthy illness, 12:25 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012. He was born on September 14, 1935 in Tompkinsville, KY son of the late Thedore and Ermie Turner Geralds. He attended Tompkinsville Schools. On January 10, 1959 he married Carolyn Sue Emberton Geralds in Salina, TN and she survives.
The Geralds moved to the New Richmond area 50 plus years ago and began raising their family. Jim was formerly employed at New Richmond Farm Supply for several years. After 27 years he retired from Ag. Alumni Seed Co. in Romney where he was a farm hand and helped with seed production. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping or cutting wood.
Surviving along with his wife Carolyn are: Six daughters, Susie (JT) Abbott of Darlington, Brenda Spencer, Betty Geralds and Bonnie Monts all of Crawfordsville, Beverly (Dave) Roberts of Magnum, OK and Belinda Geralds of Geneva, IN. Two sons: Jamie (Julie) Geralds of Atoka, TN and Mike (April) Geralds of Magnum, OK. Three sisters: Clara Jackson of West Point, IN, Ruby Sturgeon of Crawfordsville and Margie (Rex) Bartley of Tompkinsville, KY. Twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Kerr.
His family will receive guests, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012
at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in New Richmond cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
