Obituary

Waynetown – James A. Gregg, age 71 of Waynetown, died unexpectedly at 1:12 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015 in the ICU of St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born in Lebanon, IN on March 27, 1944 son of the late Joseph William and Edna Pearl Shirley Gregg. He married Nancy Jane Laughner in Waynetown on August 23, 1969 and she survives.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Thorntown High School and served with the U.S. Army as an administrative specialist. Following his honorable discharge, he began his 47 year career with R.R. Donnelly, where he retired as a 'flat cutter operator'.

Jim was a family man, working shifts allowing him to not miss his family's sporting activities. He enjoyed working with his grandchildren in the swine projects in
4-H and was a great fan of their school sporting activities. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and to some was known as a 'Horse Training Professor'. He was an ornery character, stubborn, a straight talker, but always put his family first.

Surviving along with his wife Nancy Jane, are two sons: Joe (Kimberly) Gregg and Aaron (Kim) Gregg both of Waynetown, a sister Shirley Rae of Urbana, Missouri and his six grandchildren: Sydney, Owen, Jr., Kirsten, Ashlynn and Maddy. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers: Joseph William Jr., Curley and Jerry Thomas and an infant sister, Annabelle Lee.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.
