Obituary

James L. 'Jim' Holman, age 89, of Crawfordsville passed away unexpectedly at 8:47 PM Monday, October 6, 2025 in Franciscan Health Hospital, Crawfordsville. He was born in Waynetown, February 7, 1936 son of the late Russell and Ethel Mae Hudson Holman.  He married Carolyn 'Kay' Fruits on June 22, 1958 at Wesley Chapel and she survives.

Jim was born and raised in Waynetown and graduated from Waynetown High School with the class of 1954. He served with the Indiana National Guard 1954-1965.  Following their marriage, Jim and Kay resided in Crawfordsville.  Jim was an independent insurance agent for over 50 years and owned Holman Insurance Agency.

Jim was an active member of Mt. Zion Church since 1976 and served as music director for over 40 years.  He attended and was a driving force in organizing the first Walk to Emmaus and participated until his health prevented it.  He, along with Pastor Warren Stewart, provided  Sunday afternoon services and music to the residents of Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.  Jim was a lifetime member of the Hillsboro F&AM Lodge.  He also was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Pacers, and Colts fan.

Jim was known as a man of God…had a positive attitude, was friendly to everyone he met, and was a very warm and engaging man.  His faith, family and church were everything to him.  He was the glue that held his family together…and called the 'best man ever'!

Surviving along with his wife Kay are: a son; Gregory (Debbie) Holman of Waynetown, two daughters; Cynthia Fletcher and Rhonda (Jeffrey) Lowe both of Crawfordsville.  Grandchildren: Derek (Shellie) Holman, Kellie (Mike) Fordice, Tasha (Matt) Morgan, Michael (Meghan) Cloncs, Amanda (Denver) Myers, Courtney (Josh) Wheeler, Danielle Fletcher and Patrick Fletcher. Sister-in-law Patti Holman of Crawfordsville.  16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and nephew Kirk.
