Wingate - James Luther Lohorn, age 78 of Wingate, died following a brief illness, 4:33 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2001 in Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health East, Lafayette. He was born in McEwen, TN February 1, 1933 the son of Dee Herman and Vallie Daniels Lohorn, they preceded him in death. On July 18, 1953 he was married to Jean Kirkpatrick in Wingate, she survives.

He was a graduate of McEwen High School with the class of 1952 and had resided in Wingate the past 57 years. Jim was a 'coating operator' for Olin-Flexel in Covington and retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving along with his wife are two sons; J. Michael (wife Peggy) Lohorn of Crawfordsville and Robert Scott (wife Reva) Lohorn of Lafayette. A daughter Lena Kay Custer of Ladoga: a sister Gladys Dreaden of Nashville, TN. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. A nephew Bill Lohorn and niece Kay Lohorn also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William and Eugene.

The family will receive guests at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, Saturday, August 13, 2011 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday August 14 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Sunday, 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Phillip Goode and Warren Stewart officiating, burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
