Janet Pauline Thompson Potter, age 76 of New Richmond, died unexpectedly in her home, Sunday, March 20, 2016. She was born in Clarks Hill, July 21, 1939 to the late James Otto and Neomi Ivy Cox Thompson. She married Lowell W. Potter in Williamsport on June 17, 1961 and he survives.
Janet was a graduate of Richland Township High School and following her marriage to Lowell, they moved near New Richmond where they raised their family. Her love was her family. She wouldn't miss one of her children's sporting or school events including her grandchildren. Janet had a fondness for horses, enjoyed riding them and 'barrel raced' competitively in the past. She was a talented seamstress and had made many clothes for her children. She enjoyed gardening and canning.
Surviving with her husband Lowell, are: a daughter, Sherri Jo (Steve) Price of Crawfordsville, sons: Dean (wife Lisa) Potter of Lafayette and Jerry (wife Kris) Potter of Louisville, KY. A sister, Elizabeth Bartlett of Linden and a brother, James 'Jimmy' Thompson of New Ross. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, twin brother Jerry Thompson, brother Henry Thompson and a sister Helen Hankins.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Alan Goff officiating. Burial will follow in New Richmond Cemetery.
