Obituary

Veedersburg – Jean Elaine Fauth Wann, age 92, of rural Veedersburg (Newtown community), passed away, at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Lafayette, January 24, 1926, daughter of the late Carl and Lenora Wiggins Fauth.
Jean was a graduate of Richland Township High School with the class of 1944.  Following graduation, she entered the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette, receiving her RN degree in 1947.  After meeting Ivan R. Wann of Chalmers, IN as a patient, Jean and Ivan began dating.  They were married in Chalmers, on December 7, 1947.  Jean suspended her nursing career to raise a family.  They moved to a home south of Newtown in 1952, where Ivan helped his father-in-law on the family farm.  Ivan took over the farm operation when Carl Fauth retired.  Ivan preceded Jean in death September 13, 2011.
In 1969, Jean resumed work as an RN at Lafayette Home Hospital.  She retired in 1981.  She had been a member of the former Mellott United Church of Christ, now Mellott Community Church, where she was formerly active in the Women's Guild.  She enjoyed house plants, needlework, organ music, and reading. She also volunteered at the Covington Manor Nursing Center.
Surviving are three sons: Gary L. (Jo) Wann of Newtown, James P. (Glenda) Wann of Kokomo, and Gregory L. (Patti) Wann of Sun City, AZ.  Four grandchildren: Genoia Beth Wann Segal, Seth Michael Wann, James Daniel Wann, and Corrie Jeannette Wann Sarol.  One step grandchild: Michelle Marvin Fry.  Great-grandchildren Jadrid and Brendan Segal, Orhan Sarol, and step-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Dillon Hutchison.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, and son David.
Visitation hours are noon to 3 p.m. with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Tague officiating, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Interment will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Paws 'n' Claws Animal Shelter, Attica. To leave a condolence or share a memory, visit us online at www.familyandfriendsfh.com
