There was rejoicing in heaven October 27, 2016 at 8:18 a.m. as Mrs. Joetta (Bell) Barnard was called home to be with the Lord. She lived her life with great faith in Jesus knowing that He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Joetta was born in Sidell, IL on Feb. 6, 1931, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1949. Joetta was a teacher at Shawnee Learning Center, having a passion to help special needs children. Multiple exchange students found love and encouragement as she welcomed them into her home.
Joetta was a member of Ladoga Christian Church where she was actively involved in ministry. She loved to travel & on a trip to Israel was blessed to be baptized in the Jordan River.
Joetta married Harley Barnard June 4, 1983. She was proceeded in death by Robert Leslie Bell (husband), Dorsey & Mary Moreman (parents) and 3 sisters. Survivors include a sister, Shirley Goff. Also to cherish her godly legacy include:
Surviving along with her husband Harley are: a son Darryl (Debbie) Bell of Veedersburg, daughter Nana (Bill) Peevler of rural Veedersburg and a son, Don (Paula) Bell of Ft. Wayne. Stepchildren: Rhonda (Reid) Bell of Newtown, Denise (Roger) Rosentreter of Crawfordsville and Alan (Becky) Barnard of Lebanon.
Eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene (U.S. Highway 341), Saturday, noon – 3:00 pm. October 29, 2016, with a celebration of life service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Joetta's family request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zola Levitt Ministries or to the church of your choice.
