West Point – John C. Davis, age 71 of rural West Point, died unexpectedly at 6:52 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 in St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis, from an aneurysm. He became ill while fishing earlier in the day. He was born in Champaign, IL on March 24, 1943 son of the late Carlisle and Lois Elder Davis. John was married to Terri Gooden Cronk in West Point, September 3, 2005 and she survives.

John graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, IL and served in the U.S. Army 1962-1966, seeing active duty in Viet Nam. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Business Administration. He moved to Lafayette in 1978, from Hutchison, KS and was employed by Loeb's Department Store as a Vice President. In the early 1980's he established John Davis & Associates in Lafayette and worked as a Financial Consultant until his retirement.

John enjoyed time with his grandchildren and family as well as horses and fishing. John had a zest for life, never knew a stranger and brought 'life to the party'! He was loved by all, had a 'nickname' for everyone and will be sorely missed by the West Point community.

Surviving along with his wife Terri are: A daughter, Tiffany (Paul) Ouellette, Hoover, Alabama, a son: John L. 'Johnny' Davis, Dallas, TX, a step-daughter Kara (John) Townsend, West Lafayette. A sister: Carolyn (John) Houser, Mansfield, IL Grandchildren: Alexandria, Isabella, Kane, Anna, Johnathan, Emma, Avry, Abby and Evan.

John's family will greet guests, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation will follow his visitation and a celebration of life will be held at the farm at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to West Point Fire & Rescue.
