Obituary

John C. Goodin Jr. age 81 of New Richmond, passed away at 9:20 AM Thursday, July 25, 2024 in his daughter's home in rural New Richmond following a lengthy illness.  He had lived in Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville the past 6 years.  He was born in Tinsley, KY on May 9, 1943 to the late John C. Goodin, Sr. and Dorothy Evelyn Carr Goodin, they both preceded him in death.  He married Gladys Ruth Reamer February 2, 1968 in New Richmond and she preceded him in death June 8, 2018.

He attended Lone Jack High School in Kentucky.  He retired as a truck driver from the Montgomery County Highway Department.  He formerly belonged to the New Richmond Christian Church.  He was known for his outstanding garden before his health failed.  He enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, fishing and mushrooming.  He had a knack for locating Indian artifacts.

He is survived by three sons: John C. (Shannon) Goodin III of Lawrencburg, KY, Max Goodin of New Richmond and Bob (Michaela) Goodin of Independence.  A daughter Marian (Jake) Johnson of rural New Richmond, 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, a brother, two sisters and granddaughter Echo Rain.

Visitation hours are, Noon – 3:00 PM Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with funeral services following at 3:00 PM with Pastor Alan Goff officiating.  Memorial contributions may be directed top American Heart Association.  To sign the guestbook or share a memory visit us at www.familyandfriendsfh.com
