Joy Ann Hayman (April 17, 1938 - January 21, 2025) of Newtown, Indiana, returned to the Lord Tuesday morning from Westminster Village in West Lafayette. Her body will be buried in the rich ground of the Newtown Cemetery beside her daughter (Katherine) and other family and friends.

Granddaughter of Andrew and Bertha Shultz, and only child of Roy and Virginia Slauter of Newtown, Joy goes ahead of her high school sweetheart and husband, Arthur Lowell Hayman, and her daughter, Kimberly Ann Bowers (husband Scott) of West Lafayette.

Joy enjoyed all her grandchildren, Matthew (Josie) Bowers of West Lafayette, Andrew (Emily) Bowers of Indianapolis, and Hannah (Isaac) Walters of Lafayette, and her great grandchildren, Lucas and Abigail Bowers, and Henry "Hank" Walters. She had a special relationship with each one of them and saw them individually as who they were in each moment and each season.

Joy was a Registered Nurse from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and a farm wife who cared for and grew souls. Her "Joybells," youth choir, and the Community Church of Newtown were her extended family, and she nurtured them as best she knew how. She listened well and leaves behind growing riches, the people in her life. Her "Hug Coupon" notes and glass-bead "Splashes of Joy" still show up in old shoe boxes and books of those who knew her. They remind the people she loved of how she lived.

Joy's love of music was her way of connecting and second only to her love of the people with whom God placed her. She grew where she was planted, and she will be missed. "Let's Just Praise the Lord…"

Visitation hours are 2:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 27th at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Parks officiating, with burial following in Newtown Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Newtown Community Church.  Visit us online at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to sign the guest book or share a condolence.
