Judith A. (Gillam) Shute age 89 of Lafayette, formerly of Waynetown, passed away at 3:37 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024 in IU Arnett Hospital, Lafayette.  She was born in Cleveland, OH June 1, 1935 daughter of the late William and Helen Jones Gillam.  She married Robert Shute in Cleveland July 7, 1956, he preceded her in death in 2002.  They were 'fixed up' on a blind date while attending Purdue University.

Judy graduated from Fairview Park High School near Cleveland.  She attended Purdue University for two years studying home economics. While at Purdue she was a member of the University Choir.  While Bob was on active duty with the U.S. Air Force they lived in Texas and Fairbanks Alaska before returning to Waynetown in 1959.  Judy was a homemaker and helped on the farm, until her children were in school. Judy then was employed by Waynetown Schools for 12 years as a teacher's aide.

Judy was a founding and lifetime member of the Maple Grove Extension Homemakers and a member of the Waynetown United Methodist Church.  She was an avid Purdue sports fan as well as an Indianapolis Colts fan.  She lived with her daughter the past six years.

Surviving are: a daughter, Linda Shute of Lafayette and son, Gary Shute (his partner Courtney Mulvey and her daughter Rayven) of Waynetown.  Grandchildren: Austin, Kelsey & Codey Shute.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David and a brother Jerry Gillam.
