He was surrounded by his loving family when he passed. He was born May 28, 1932, in Barren County, KY, son of the late Charles and Lucy Brownfield, adopted and raised by Dr. James Cedric and Lucile Rodgers Carter. He married Virgie Helen Simmons in Attica on July 5, 1952, they have enjoyed 65 beautiful years of marriage and she survives.
Junior retired from Inland Container, Crawfordsville after 21 years and also worked for CPC of Lafayette for 13 years in bridge construction. Junior was most proud of his wife and family. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his time caring for his home and land. He enjoyed gardening, mowing, cutting wood and most of all just being outdoors…especially on his John Deere. He and Virgie took pleasure in traveling around the country to visit family and friends. He also took great joy in the simple things of everyday life…like spending time drinking coffee with his friends at the 'North End' in Wingate. Most evenings you could find him in his recliner watching John Wayne westerns.
