Lafayette – Linda Ellen Franklin Brown, age 53, of South Raub, and wife of John Michael Brown M.D. died early Monday, August 3, 2009 in her home, following an eight month battle with cancer. Linda was born on October 21, 1955 in Crawfordsville, In to Thomas G. and Irene Campbell Franklin. They preceded her in death.

She graduated from Crawfordsville High School and attended Ivy Tech State College in the Medical Transcription Program. On April 8, 1978 she was married to Dr. John Michael Brown in Dayton. Linda had been a stay-at-home mother, served 12 years as a 4-H Leader, was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, belonged to the Wea Plains Woman's Club, and she enjoyed traveling, bowling and exercising. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Crawfordsville and had attended Faith Baptist Church in Lafayette. Her faith was strong, she loved the Lord and read her Bible and prayed daily.

Surviving along with her husband are two daughters: Sarah (Jarrod D.) Enright of Gulfport, FL and Susan Ellen Brown of Chicago, IL. A son John Michael Brown II of Gulfport, FL. Three sisters: Janet Arthur, and Shari (Jerry) Knecht both of Crawfordsville, IN and Patricia (Jack) Stinchcomb of San Diego, CA. Two brothers: Mark (Alecia) Franklin of Crawfordsville, IN and Perry (Lisa) Franklin of Iowa. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Sheena (Kyle) Lutes, Kelly Knecht, Cory Knecht, David (Jessica) Stinchcomb, Joseph Stinchcomb, Amanda Arthur, Kimberly Arthur, Daniel Arthur, Haley Franklin, Seth Franklin, Travis Franklin, Mark C. Franklin, Thomas Franklin.

The family will greet guests Thursday, August 6, 2009 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with Pastor Brent Aucoin officiating. Burial will follow in Mintoyne Cemetery.
