Wingate - Linn Howard Quigle of the rural Wingate/Newtown area, died in his home surrounded by his family, 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 following a battle with cancer. He was born in Crawfordsville, March 14, 1940 to the late Howard and Miriam Groff Quigle. He married Betty Reed in Griffith , Georgia, September 12, 1958, she survives.
Linn was a proud graduate of Richland Township High School with the class of 1958. He had attended University of Miami and graduated from the Purdue University Winter Short Course in Agriculture. Linn had farmed in the Newtown/Wingate area for over 50 years. Linn enjoyed farming and took great pride in it, which was reflected in his crops and equipment
Linn was a member and formerly elder, and trustee of the Newtown Community Church, formerly Newtown Presbyterian Church. He served on the Southeast Fountain School Board of Education 1974-1982, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, served in the Indiana Army National Guard 1958-1965 and a member of the Attica Eagles.
He was an avid boater, loved spending time with his loving family, trips to the casinos with family, attending sporting events of his kids and grandchildren and looked forward to their yearly winter trips to Florida with family and friends. Always 'life of the party', Linn's unique sense of humor and ready smile, will be sorely missed by a community of friends.
Surviving along with his wife Betty is a son: Lance (Ann) Quigle of Naples, FL. Three daughters: Carla Knecht (fiancee' John Lawson) of Wingate, Nancy (Greg) Harrison of Kingman, Stacey (Craig) Replogle of Brownsburg. Eight grandchildren: Lane Quigle, Danielle (Dave) Jara, Mallori (Adam) Miller, Lindsay Drollinger, Coy Knecht, Reid Replogle, Logan Replogle, Trey Replogle. A great-grandson Kade Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. Linn's family ask that guest come in casual attire, Key West style. Funeral services at the funeral home Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating, burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery. The family requests memorials best be directed to Newtown Cemetery or IU Health Hospice Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
