Obituary

Lloyd Lee Rice, age 77, of rural Veedersburg (Wingate), died unexpectedly in his home, Friday evening, February 3, 2017. He was born June 2, 1939 to the late Reed and Vivian Gilky Rice. He married Mae Shull, April 26, 1974 In Crawfordsville and she survives.

'Lee' was born and raised in Richland Township in Fountain County and a 1957 graduate of Richland Township High School. He served with the Indiana National Guard. Lee was semi retired after farming and raising cattle for 68 years. He had worked several years at R.R. Donnelley as a 'pressman'. He was also a sales representative for Garst Hybrid Seeds for over 40 years. He enjoyed raising cattle and a supporter of the 4-H program.

Lee was active in Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #385, Moose Lodge #6, American Legion Post 72 and Eagles all of Crawfordsville.

Surviving along with his wife Mae, are, daughters: LeeAnna (Bill) Tucker of Woodstock, GA, Julie (Frank) Pratt of Valley View, TX, Linda, (Bill) Jones of Valley View, TX and Cheryl (Mitch) McIntire of LaBelle, FL. Sons: Mike (Leanna) Rice of Wingate, Marcus (Debra) Dulin of Poquoson, VA and Jeff (Ella) Dulin of Cloverdale, IN. A sister Lois (Gale) Ingalsbe of Veedersburg, two brothers: Charlie Bob (Pat) Rice of Wingate and Byron (Shirley) Rice of Lafayette. Twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Barbara Austin also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lynn and a grandson Hyton Jones.

Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 p.m Tuesday, February, 7, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate and one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with Pastor Craig Carrell officiating. At the conclusion of the visitation Tuesday evening, a 'Broken Circle Ceremony' will be conducted by Moose Lodge #6, closing with a Masonic Service by F&AM Lodge #385. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery-Grant Street, Crawfordsville. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mellott Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
