New Richmond – Lois Lane Kunkel, age 88 of New Richmond, died 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, where she had been a patient since Monday. She was born January 5, 1922 in Wingate, the daughter of the late Sherman and Fanny Bell Watts Lane. On September 6, 1941 she was married to Ralph Kunkel in Jamestown and he survives.

Lois grew up in Wingate and attended Wingate Schools until her junior year, she then attended and graduated from New Richmond High School, where she met her future husband. She had been employed as a school secretary by Coal Creek Central School. She then went to work for the Linden State Bank, where she served as a teller/bookkeeper for 27 years. She formerly was a member of the New Richmond American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. She was currently attending Church of Abundant Faith in Crawfordsville. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and working puzzles.

Surviving along with her husband are a daughter: Janet Brown of New Richmond. A son: Roger (Janice) Kunkel of New Richmond. Three grandchildren: Lisa (Will )Hampton of New Richmond, Michelle Kunkel of Fishers and Ryan (Anita) Brown of New Richmond. Five Great-Grandchildren and two Great-Great Grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson Scott Kunkel, five brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Family & Friends Funeral Home with Rev. John Pettigrew, MD officiating, burial will follow in New Richmond Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Church of Abundant Faith with envelopes available at the funeral home.
