Obituary

Malcolm Charles Runyan age 77 of Waynetown passed away in his home surrounded by family at 4:04 PM Friday, January 3, 2025 following a battle with ALS. He was born in Crawfordsville February 3, 1947 son of the late Elihu Henry and Mary DeEtta Wilkinson Runyan.  He married Sue Ann Andrews in Bettsville, OH on June 10, 1967 and she survives.

Malcolm was a graduate of Waynetown High School, he also attended and graduated from Institute of Dental Technology in Elkhart, IN.  He was a long time resident of Waynetown and remained a grain and livestock farmer until his death.  For Malcolm, farming was not just his occupation, but also his avocation.  He was a man of the land and was proud to be a caretaker of the soil for his time on earth. Malcolm also served as a member of the Waynetown Fire Department Board  for 10 years.

He was a faithful member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon over 40 years.  He loved attending church each Sunday and faithfully attended until just this past week. He leaves a legacy for the love of God, family, others and farming.  As Malcolm suffered the challenges of ALS, he met them head on with faith, dignity and grace.  He will be remembered for his ever-present smile and kind nature.

Surviving along with his wife Sue are: two sons; Eric S. (Angie) Runyan and Craig A. (Carrie) Runyan both of Waynetown.  Grandchildren: Ethan Runyan, Grace Runyan, Drew (Ellen) Runyan and Brent Runyan.
