Obituary

Mellott – Margaret H. Wilhite Dyson, age 97, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Parkview Nursing Home, Attica. She was born in Crawfordsville, November, 21, 1919 daughter of the late Robert and Mary Agnes Grabman Wilhite. She married Roscoe Dyson on December 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death January 1986.

She attended Crawfordsville schools and had worked in the old Crawfordsville Shirt Company. She retired from the Mellott Post Office serving over 35 years, at the age of 83. She was a lifetime member of St Bernard's Catholic Church in Crawfordsville.

Margaret loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great pride and pleasure in attending their school activities. She loved everyone and made everyone smile. She was kind and polite which endeared her to those she met…and she never met a stranger! Her faith was strong and she loved having her family in for Christmas and Easter. Bingo nearly took precedence over everything else!

Surviving are three sons: John (Jane) Dyson, Don (Teri) Dyson, Darrell (Denise) Dyson all of Crawfordsville. Grandchildren: Jeff Dyson, Juli (Alex) Smith, Susan (Bobby) Oakley, Michael Travis (Crystal) Dyson, Linda Williams (Darin Odle), Jen (Ryan) Karey, Mackenzie Walters, Curt (Dana) Dyson, Mandi (Tim) Gerdes. Missy (Brandon) Lee. Three step-children Donnie, Diana and Paula. 23 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren also survive, along with her beloved dog BoBo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Judy, great-grandson Brogan and step-granddaughter Marsha.

Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with a rosary service following the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, with the Rev. Christopher Shocklee officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent Hospital NICU/Brogan James Lee, with envelopes available at the services.
