.Attica: Marjorie 'Joan' Hanselman Peterson, age 81, died unexpectedly, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:45 A.M. in Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born at home, near Riverside, to the late Rupert Guy and Alta Iola Olmstead Hanselman. On November 25, 1949 she married Virgil 'Junior' Peterson in Attica, he survives.

Joan graduated from Attica High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a farm wife and known for her excellent cooking skills. She always had great meals and snacks for farm hands and others who were helping them around the farm. She belonged to the First Lutheran Church in Attica and Bethel Ladies Aid. She had a large garden and flowers she tended, along with being an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed antiquing. Joan loved having her grandchildren around. She was a very loving caring and nurturing person. Nearly everyone had enjoyed her cookies. Joan was a very neat and tidy person, never leaving the house without matching shoes, purse and scarf.

Surviving along with her husband Junior, are three daughters; Rebecca (Rick) White of Attica, Theresa Brenner of Attica and Marsha (Alan) Saari of Palm Harbor, FL. Her identical twin sister Margaret ' June' Swanson of Attica and a brother Ronald Hanselman of Attica. Eleven grandchildren: Stephanie, Kelley, Ross, Heather, Natalie, Jessica, Matthew, Hilary, Allie, Eli, Zackery. 13 Great-grandchildren also survive. Preceding her in death were her parents , daughter Deborah, sisters: Inez Emery and Pauline Elston.

Friends may call at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carolyn Lesmeister officiating.
