Obituary

Mary Jane Albright Fay, age 99 of Waynetown, passed away at 4:00 PM April 13, 2022 in Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.  She was born in Warren County to the late J. Wilson and Nettie Henry Albright.  She married Charles E. Fay June 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death March 21, 1967.

Jane was a 1941 graduate of Attica High School.  She was employed by Steve's Market which later became Hudson's Grocery in Waynetown.    She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, The Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary where she served as treasurer for several years.  She enjoyed time with her family, gardening, quilting and cooking.

Jane was a very private person who enjoyed sewing and quilting.  She was devoted to her family and cherished every opportunity to be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Summers were special times that she spent planning road trip adventures with her special sisters-in-laws (Bonnie Fay Simmons and Betty Fay Gravett), working in her yard, tending to her flowers and vegetable garden.  She canned green beans and tomatoes, froze corn and peaches.  She made dozens of jars of her 'special recipe' raspberry jelly…all with the purpose of sending them home with those who visited.  Her greatest pleasure was cooking a big meal (including homemade pies) and filling the house with family…always finishing the evening with a slightly competitive card game or Yahtzee!

Surviving are four children:  Pam (Jack) Blackstone of Bloomington, Debbie (Tim) Bunnell of Crawfordsville, Pat (Jan) Fay of Waynetown and Paula (Curt) Schmitt of New Harmony.  Nine grandchildren:  Layne Blackstone (Jeff) Haas, Sheridan Blackstone (Chris) Lodico, Bethany Blackstone (Jesse) Hamner, Brennan Blackstone (Robert) Blair, Shane (Anna) Bunnell, Bryce Bunnell, Sally Fay (Rob) Jude, Patsy Fay (Marc) Burton and Christian Schmitt.  Eleven great-grandchildren:  Courtland & Enzo Lodico, Hadley & Stites Hamner, Mabel & Robert III Blair, Zack, Amelia, Elliott Bunnell, Colten and Payten Burton.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Tula Brier and Helen Evans, a brother Glenn Albright.

Visitation hours are Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with funeral service following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Graveside services will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Montgomery County Community Foundation.  Visit us at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to sign the guest book or share a memory.
