Mary Jane Helms Hendrick of Crawfordsville,passed away July 22, 2023 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana, peacefully, surrounded by her family.   She was 86 years old.

Mary was born April 6, 1937 at home in Waynetown, Indiana to Ida Ester McElwee Helms and Russell Wayne Helms.   She was a 1955 graduate of Veedersburg High School.  She married Robert Wayne Clouse in 1954 until his passing in April 1962.  She then married James Harold Hendrick on April 10, 1970, who passed in November of 2012.   She was a member of the Adventure Christian Church in Tavares, Florida and was a former member of the Newtown Community Church.

Mary enjoyed Crocheting and made many Afghans over the years for her family and friends.  She also did crafts, bowling, singing in the Church Choir, playing her organ and especially playing Marbles with her family.   Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Survivors include:  Children - Tamela (Mike) Reissmann; Deanna (Scott) McManomy; Cathy (Tim) Lyons; William Hendrick; Ruth Hendrick; Joseph (Vicki) Hendrick; and Jama (Travis) Abney.  Sister – Laura Lucille (Tootie) Clawson, 24 Grandchildren, 42 (plus 2 on the way) Great Grandchildren, and 4 (plus 1 on the way) Great Great Grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in Death by her parents; Husbands Robert and James; Sisters – Ruth, Bev and Lois; Brother – Gene; and Grandson – Chad Simmons

Visitation hours are 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Friday, July 28, 2023 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Newtown Cemetery for upkeep of the grounds.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or mail to (Newtown Cemetery P.O.
