Obituary

Waynetown – Mary Jane Lough McClain age 90 of Waynetown, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12:15 A.M. in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, where she had resided since May. She was born in rural Fountain County, August 1, 1922, daughter of the late Marvin T. and Carrie Alice Short Lough. She was married to Albert Verne McClain in Sterling on March 15, 1942, he preceded her in death September 16, 2000.

Mary Jane graduated with the last graduating class from Newtown High School in 1941. Following their marriage, Mary Jane and Albert began farming and raising a family west of Newtown. They remained on the farm until retiring in 1980 an moving to Waynetown. She formerly was active in Newtown United Methodist Church, Home Ec. Clubs in both Newtown and Waynetown, TOPS and currently a member of Waynetown Christian Church.

Mary Jane and Albert enjoyed square dancing and as an accomplished seamstress she design their clothing. She loved to cook and entertain her family and friends, especially family birthdays and holidays. She always had many flowers growing and decorated her home to match the season.

Surviving are a son: Albert 'Jay' (wife Patricia) McClain of Waynetown and a daughter Alice Jane Miller (husband John deceased). Sister: Margaret Jean (Max) Mitchell of Waynetown. Grandchildren: Laura McClain, Amy Becker, Bonnie (Doug) Sydow, Brad (Carolyn) Miller. Five step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother Arnett Lough, infant grandson John Alan Miller.

Visitation hours will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Lawler officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Waynetown Christian Church or Eastside Baptist Church, Crawfordsville.
