Wingate – Mary Kathryn Stephens Small, age 87, of Wingate, passed away at 8:14 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in IU Health Arnett Hospital Lafayette. She was born in Romney, IN on August 14, 1929 to the late William R. and Mary Stella Pendleton Stephens. She married Robert G. Small in Wingate on May 20, 1950. He preceded her in death May 6, 2010.

Kathryn graduated from Wingate High School in 1947 and worked at the former Wingate Bank and then Bank One/Chase before retiring.

She enjoyed camping with friends and spending time with her sisters. She also enjoyed painting and was a life-long student of art and had her paintings shown in local art shows over the years.

Surviving her are two daughters, Kathy Jo (Frank) Jewell of New Richmond and Erin Small of Evergreen, CO and a son, Eric (Glenda) Small of Crawfordsville. Four grandchildren: Matthew (Nicole) Jewell, Clayton (Jessica) Jewell, Danielle Small and Brittany Small. Great grandchildren: Abbie Jewell, Jessica and Andrew Mora and Ramona Jewell. Two sisters also survive: Josephine Turner and Carolyn Greene, both of Wingate. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother David Stephens.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating.
